Advances in laser technology and surgical technique are showing early evidence to support outpatient surgery. 45 patients with prostates of 6oz or larger were scheduled for outpatient treatment. 10 others were scheduled for inpatient admission. The length of stay for the outpatients was an average of only 8.8 hours with 17 hours of catheterization. The length of stay for the inpatients was an average of 25.7 hours with 39.4 hours of catheterization.
